If you have trouble finding a particular item, creating specific sections of clothing could be the answer you’re looking for. You can use all kinds of different categories to organize your closet. Pick the one that makes the most sense to you!
You can color code, sort by season or arrange your clothes by length —and these are just a few of the many different ways to categorize! When you organize your apartment closet in a way that makes the most sense to you, you can quickly find any item you might need. Say goodbye to rifling through a massive pile of clothes for that specific sweater you want to wear!
Using labeled containers like wicker baskets will help you take advantage of all of the room in your closet. Whether you have a walk-in wardrobe or a more simple setup, containers help you get more out of your available space.
Do you have some seasonal clothes, like winter sweaters or bathing suits, that are taking up space? Store them in a container until it’s time to wear them again! Do you have a pile of fun socks that are taking up room in your dresser? Put them in a container instead!
Putting certain things into boxes or bins frees up other space, like limited hanging space or drawers. When you start using containers in your closet, be sure to put labels on them! That way, you can find what you’re looking for a lot faster. Instead of pulling out every container and looking inside, scan your labels.
Whether you have entire rooms full of extra storage space or live in a smaller area, it’s helpful to do some spring cleaning every once and a while. We’re all guilty of holding onto clothes and other items that we don’t wear or use anymore. Getting rid of these items frees up a lot of much-needed space in our closets.

Donate unneeded items to a local charity, or sell them at a consignment store. After you clear out a pile of stuff, your closet will thank you for it! You won’t have to dig through your closet anymore, and you won’t come across a piece and think, “I forgot I had this!”
